When hackers ask for $BTC, not apologies.
Pornhub users are caught in a classic crypto-age ransom: data stolen, samples leaked, and payment demanded in Bitcoin.
ShinyHunters pulling this move feels depressingly familiar. Big platform, sensitive data, public pressure — and then the same line: “Pay in $BTC or we dump everything.” Bitcoin didn’t create cybercrime, but it became the cleanest settlement layer for it. Fast, global, no middleman to cry to.
What strikes me is the asymmetry. Users trusted a centralized platform with very personal data, and now they’re collateral damage in a negotiation they’ll never see. Meanwhile, $BTC just sits there, neutral, like the sea at night — calm, indifferent, usable by anyone 🌒.
This isn’t about Bitcoin being good or evil. It’s about how power concentrates when data is centralized and money is borderless. The real lesson isn’t “crypto is dangerous”, it’s “privacy is fragile”. And once it leaks, there’s no buyback.
