Trump is about to reshuffle the Fed.

A new Fed chair could be named next week — and markets are already placing their bets.

Donald Trump says he’ll announce the next Fed chair as early as next week. No surprise, he couldn’t resist taking a swing at Jerome Powell, calling him “always late”… and an “idiot”. Subtle as ever.

What matters more is how markets are positioning for what comes next. On prediction markets, the current favorites look like this:

Rick Rieder — 38%

Kevin Warsh — 29%

Christopher Waller — 14%

Kevin Hassett — 8%

Rieder leading is… interesting. It suggests investors expect a Fed more aligned with markets, liquidity, and asset prices — less ivory tower, more Bloomberg terminal. In other words: policy that listens to markets instead of lecturing them.

If this shift happens, it won’t be loud. But it could be decisive. Monetary policy doesn’t need to turn dovish overnight — it just needs to stop fighting reality.

Between political pressure, debt, and fragile markets, the next Fed chair won’t have much room to improvise. Whoever gets the job inherits a system already leaning. Fort.
