Satellites mining $BTC above our heads.

A startup backed by Nvidia wants to mine $BTC in orbit using solar-powered data centers. Space mining might arrive sooner than expected.

I read this news and honestly had to pause for a second. Mining $BTC… in space. Not in Iceland, not in Texas — literally above our heads, floating around the planet. 🚀

The startup Starcloud, supported by Nvidia, plans to launch a satellite carrying ASIC miners this year. The idea is simple but wild: build orbital data centers powered directly by solar energy. No electricity bills, no local grid pressure, just the sun and cold space.

If you think about it, space actually solves several headaches miners have on Earth:

• Solar energy in orbit is constant and powerful ☀️
• Cooling is easier thanks to the vacuum of space
• No land costs, no angry regulators, no neighbors complaining about noise

In theory, it could make mining cheaper than on Earth.

But of course, reality is never that simple. Launching hardware into orbit is insanely expensive. Repairs? Basically impossible. And if something breaks, well… bonne chance fixing it 500 km above Earth.

Still, this is exactly the kind of crazy experiment that makes crypto fascinating. We started with people mining $BTC on laptops in their bedrooms. Now we’re talking about orbital mining farms.

From basement rigs to satellites. The evolution of proof-of-work feels almost poetic.

And honestly… if one day a big chunk of the $BTC hashrate comes from space, I wouldn’t even be surprised anymore. Crypto always finds the weirdest paths forward. 🌌
