Real crypto users are still a tiny minority.
Only 40–70M people transact on-chain today.
Read the new a16z numbers this morning with the sun warming my kitchen tiles, and it really puts things in perspective. Out of 716M people who “own crypto,” only 40–70M actually perform real on-chain transactions. Another 181M are just monthly active addresses — not necessarily humans. Bref, the gap is huge.
And honestly, it makes the whole space feel like early days again. We talk about adoption as if everyone’s already here, but in reality we’re just a small tribe wandering the frontier while the rest of the world still stands outside the gate. Mass adoption isn’t late — it simply hasn’t started.
When I think about that while walking along the promenade, I feel this mix of calm and excitement. If the market can already shake the world with so few true users… imagine what happens when millions more step in. 🌍✨
