Programmable money or programmable control?
An EU MP just painted a chilling picture of the digital euro: funds split into categories, where 300€ only works for food, 200€ only for fuel, etc.
Honestly, that’s the nightmare scenario many of us in crypto have been warning about. CBDCs sold as “innovation” but in practice — a way to micromanage every aspect of your spending. Imagine filling your tank and being told: désolé, your fuel credits are empty, even if your balance shows plenty left. That’s not money anymore, that’s a ration card on steroids.
This is why I see $BTC, $ETH and the broader crypto ecosystem as not just an investment, but as a fight for financial freedom. Decentralized money doesn’t care if you buy food, fuel, or a plane ticket. It’s yours, not programmed by some bureaucrat in Brussels.
The digital euro could come — maybe sooner than we think. But the question is: will people accept programmable shackles, or will they choose open systems that give back real choice? 🔥
