Paxos “prints” 300 trillion PYUSD by mistake.
A tiny glitch turned into a trillion-dollar whoopsie.
Last night, Paxos — the issuer behind PayPal’s stablecoin $PYUSD — accidentally minted 300 trillion tokens 😳. Yeah, trillion with a “T.” The error was caught almost instantly, and the extra coins were burned before you could even refresh Etherscan. The correct amount, 300 million PYUSD, was then reissued.
Paxos says no user funds were affected, no data leaked, and the issue’s been fully fixed. Still… it’s a wild reminder of how even the most “stable” parts of crypto can go a little loco sometimes. C’est fou, vraiment.
