Multisig, broken dreams, and $27 million gone.

Multisig, broken dreams, and $27 million gone.

One compromised key was enough to turn “secure” into catastrophe.

PeckShield analysts reported a brutal case: an investor lost $27.3M after one key of a multisignature wallet got compromised. Not all keys. Just one. And the dominoes fell. 🧨
About 4,100 $ETH — roughly $12.6M — already passed through Tornado Cash. Another $2M sits liquid on hacker-controlled addresses, waiting like a loaded gun.

But the part that really hurts? The attacker also controls a second multisig wallet linked to a DeFi position on Aave. There’s $25M in $ETH as collateral, with $12.3M borrowed in $DAI. Meaning this isn’t just a theft — it’s leverage, pressure, and potential liquidation theater.

Multisig is not magic. It’s math plus humans. And humans leak, click, reuse, underestimate. One weak point is all it takes. I’ve said it before under the southern sun with a coffee in hand: complexity doesn’t always mean safety. Parfois, c’est l’inverse.

Crypto doesn’t forgive assumptions. It invoices them. Stay sharp. 🔐🧡
