DeFi takes the crown, AI eats the dust.
The first 8 months of 2025 have drawn a crazy contrast in crypto. According to Binance Research stats: 6 sectors grew, 4 tanked hard. On top — DeFi (+44.6%), RWA (+38.7%), and stablecoins (+38.6%). At the bottom — AI projects (-55.4%), gaming (-43.6%), and even L2 networks (-26.9%).
What does this tell us? That the market is finally separating narrative hype from real utility. DeFi keeps thriving because liquidity always finds its way back to yield and efficient capital use. RWAs? Makes sense — institutions are looking for tokenized “real world” exposure. Stablecoins? They’re the lifeblood of this industry.
Meanwhile, the AI narrative in crypto feels like it burned too bright, trop vite. Projects with no real business model got insane valuations, and now they’re crashing back to Earth. Same with gaming: too many promises, too little adoption. And L2s… maybe the sector just got over-saturated — dozens of rollups chasing the same users.
Personally, I love these market rotations. They clear the noise, expose who’s just chasing hype, and remind us where the real demand is.
