Crypto is already at the checkout counter.

Crypto is already at the checkout counter.

Nearly 40% of US merchants now accept crypto payments, and customers are clearly asking for it.

According to a joint study by PayPal and the National Cryptocurrency Association, roughly 4 out of 10 American merchants already accept crypto at the register. Even more telling: 69% say their customers want to pay with crypto at least once a month — mostly millennials and Gen Z.

This is where crypto quietly wins. Not with slogans, but with usage. Faster transactions, less friction, better privacy — merchants don’t care about ideology, they care about flow. And crypto flows well.

I see this every time I talk to younger friends. They don’t ask if you can pay with $BTC or stablecoins — they assume you should be able to. If not, the store feels… outdated.

What merchants also get is attention. Accepting crypto pulls in a new crowd, curious, loyal, digital-native. It’s marketing without ads. Pas mal.

Adoption doesn’t arrive with fireworks. It sneaks in through payment terminals, one transaction at a time.
